Its Definitely Fall

The weather is changing. College Football is on. The Braves are going to the playoffs. It is definitely fall. My favorite part about the fall months is that Chili starts to hit the table. Corn bread gets baked and maybe even some banana bread. Yes these are three of my favorite things.

What are your favorite things about Fall? Southern Living just sent out its Fall Style issue and one of my favorite things is in there, Chili. The issue has three chili's for you to try. Veggie Chili, Chicken and three bean chili, and Beef and Black-eyed pea chili.

I don't do a real good job of following the recipe, so here is how I changed up the third option.

Beef Brisket and Black-Eyed Pea Chili

2 lbs Diced up Beef Brisket
1 medium sweet onion
3 garlic gloves
2 tbsp Chili Powder
2 tsp cumin
1 Tbsp Olive Oil
1- 6oz can Tomato Paste
 2 cans Diced Tomato
1-16oz frozen Black-eyed peas
1 cup Beef Broth
2 tap salt
1 tsp Beef Rub

I mixed the ingredients and placed in the crock pot. I put it on High for the first hour and then low for about another 4 hours. You can add other toppings when you serve. I still like the classic Fritos and some good ole sharp Cheddar, but some cheese and corn bread would be awesome too. Thanks to Southern Living for giving a great recipe that we could add some 'Que to.

As the weather gets colder this will surely be on the menu. Righteous 'Que can come in many forms.
